Buxton National Historic Site
There are signs of industry and thrift and comfort, everywhere; signs of intemperance, of idleness, of want, nowhere. There is no tavern and no groggery; but there is a chapel and a schoolhouse. Most interesting of all are the inhabitants. Twenty years ago, most of them where slaves who owned nothing, not even their children. Now they own themselves; they own homes and farms, and they have their wives and children about them. They are enfranchised citizens of a government which protects their rights. They have the great essentials of human happiness, "something to love, something to do, and something to hope for" and if they are not happy it is their own fault.
Milner Heritage House
In the 1860s, Robert Milner, a young English immigrant, came to the growing town of Chatham, Canada West. Here, he started a modest buggy and sleigh manufacturing business. In 1874, at the age of 19, Emma Wicks married Robert. Emma became a prominent artist even though she didn't have any formal training. She specialized in "crayon" portraits (pencil stippling) for which she won many awards.
By the 1890s, the Milner Carriage Works had grown to become one of the largest vehicle producers in southern Ontario and Robert had established himself as one of Chatham’s “Captains of Industry.” Robert and his wife, Emma, built this Queen Anne style residence on the corner of William and Murray Streets in 1894. Together, they had seven children.
Chatham Railroad Museum

Wallaceburg and District Museum
A dream for local history enthusiasts culminated June 29, 1984 when the Wallaceburg and District Museum was officially dedicated. During ensuing years, an active and operative historical centre continues not only as a museum artifact depository, but has raised a public consciousness of heritage appreciation. Reaching that goal came only after a struggle over several decades. Dr. George Mitchell, local medical practitioner, might be judged Wallaceburg's first active historian. He assisted with the formation of the Kent Historical Society in 1913, authored papers and generally promoted heritage awareness when not treating his patients.
